Its huge flowers reeked of rotten meat and only the ugliest flies love them! My Dendrobium crumenatum also died last year. Its flowers are beautiful, but they smell like cockroaches! Alstonia scholars smells very nice, so far as I can tell. I still need to know if its scent can be overpowering in Florida as in Viet-Nam and India.Lanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02467559603134409242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2864061425898037158.post-86307380547007638752011-09-28T22:53:01.071-04:002011-09-28T22:53:01.071-04:00I presume the shorter days triggered the blooming,...I presume the shorter days triggered the blooming, as the temperature even where I live (SW of Ocala FL), has only barely dropped from summer maximum.

Hopefully the cold front that is expected to cool it off here into the 50's at night makes it down your way!

The "Devil" tree. My kind of plant! I wonder if one can buy an essential oil of Alstonia scholaris? Quite an interesting sounding plant. I sure learn a lot from your blog!

My large Stapelia (Carrion flower) is about ready to open its beautiful blooms. Not the best smelling flower. Disgusting actually. What else would one expect from a flower pollinated by flies and their offspring!nature freakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01284218425510732463noreply@blogger.com
