Veitchia arecina

Miami has palm trees everywhere. These two photos give you a close up look at one species: the Veitchia arecina. This palm is very easy to grow from seed and some plants can reach 100 feet. Its common name is Montgomery palm or Sunshine palm. It is also known as Veitchia montgomeryana. The first photo shows its inflorescent flowers in white filaments.

The next photo shows its fruits, yellowish green turning orange then red when mature. This is not on the same tree as above, but on a neighboring tree.
