Miami Misery
What do you do when you are faced with this? It looks bad in this photo, but it is worse when this man lifts his face to look around. He has a hole the size of a golf ball straddling the left side of his nose and his left upper lip, probably from a hefty surgical intervention. I couldn't tell his age, but he must be old. He had no food, only an empty paper cup and just slumbering here all alone. I hesitated and did not dare to talk to him until he gave me a half smile when he glanced at me the third time. Then he immediately gobbled down the sandwich I offered him. What do you do when you are faced with this?

I wonder if you could contact the local Salvation Army to send someone to help him out?
Too bad he was not fitted with some sort of prosthesis. I admit I am no expert on this.
Florida can be a cruel place for the disadvantaged among us. Very sad.
Poverty levels have gone up in the US. It's 16% now.
But, if I had to choose, I'd rather be homeless here than in NY. At least you have the sun and you can't die of cold.
Sandrine, actually, once we are homeless, it's fairly easy to choose the place to be homeless in. Just manage to get to where you want to be homeless at. I'll stay in Miami too, but if I started in New York, I'll work my way to Miami.
